What are the pros and cons to making the switch to ex500 carburetors are they both the same? They are the same carbs. They are a little bigger (37 CFM verses 34 CFM)& will produce more power. You may need to rejet so they run properly on the EN450.

The early model carbs are the same...34CFM....the late model EX 500 carbs are 37 CFM...not a whole lot of difference on paper, but when installed and tuned right, considerable actual gain.

yes the stock jets on the 1995 ex500 carbs were 130 and it bogged too much the jet from my stock carbs have 122 jets for high altitude bikes and I live at 4000 ft. does that help narrow it for what size to use?

The best way to know is to check a plug to see if your running lean (white) or to rich (black).Plugs should be ideally brown. It sounds like your just about right.I'm at sea level & run #130's .I also run pods.
