When I was switching to pods, I started the wrestling match with the airbox. Stopped for a breather then thought, well I'm not going to use the stupid thing so I got a big butcher knife out of the kitchen, and cut those crazy rubber boots holding it in off and it came right out.
Later, I found out the trick to taking that thing off for those wishing to use it or save it for whatever reason. It's counter intuitive, but you actually shove the air box forward towards the carbs, this collapses the boots inside the air box, then you pull down on the back of the box it'll clear the hanger knob that's welded onto the seat post once it clears that you can pull it off however you want or keep pushing down and pulling on the back of the box until it pops off the carbs.
Back on... put a thin coat of petroleum jelly around the outside edge of the carb intakes and inside edge of the boots, then push the air box boots into the air box and tape them down so they stay inside it, get the air box back in place and on that round hanger tab, then pull the strip of tape off then guide the boots back on.
That's the trick to removing and re-installing that confounding thing.

Any of the filters can be made to work. The easiest way,is to cut the original hose in half (The one that fits on the breather)than you can pust a filter onto the end of the cut hose.( 1/4") I believe.
