;)James, remember how "old' the shocks are on your bike....they may be "worn out". Springs do lose their "spring" after years of work, as do shocks. Yes progressives work well, as to whether they are worth the price? Well, that's a question you have to determine. Maybe a newer set of "standard" shocks, at a cheaper price would work also.

Or try to find some shocks from a heavier bike that will bolt on. Heavier bike = Higher spring rate. Your ride might be a little stiffer, but you shouldn't bottom out. I'm currently in the process of checking into the VN750 shocks... They are a bit shorter, you can adjust them by hand, AND they have an air valve, to dial in just the ride you want. As Eagle stated, shocks do go bad over time, and springs lose that spring. Sit on the bike with it not running, and bounce up and down in the seat a few times, compress the suspension. Listen to the rear shocks: If you don't get a nice "ssssss" sound from the shocks on compression AND rebound, most likely, they need to be replaced.
