Find a nice cheap Ninja or Vulcan 500 and do an engine swap...

It is just the cylinder head that is cracked. Could I replace it with a Ninja 500's cylinder head?

Are you positive it is a cracked head? Yes, a Vulcan or ninja 500 head will fit, due to larger bore of the 500, you might lose a little bit of compression.

Yeah I went to do a valve adjustment on the exhaust side and I noticed two cracks I opened it up blew some some air and there it was. Hopefully my local junkyard has some parts.

Yes, do that.....depending on where the cracks are, a good welder might be able to weld them up.

Just got home and am about to take the pictures. What kind of metal is the cylinder made of? Is it aluminum? I have a friend that has been welding for years.

Find yourself a real good TIG welder. Problem is that doing this changes the crystal structure of the parent material so heat expansion will be different at the site of the weld. If you get it MIG welded you'll need a master welder as its not steel which welds slowly. I say this as I spent 10 years as a heavy fab welder. IMHO get it it TIG welded but get a real talented person to do it. Not just a pretty stack of dimes but correct penetration. Good luck mate!

Thank you Gonzo TIG Hmm will probably head in that direction. I almost have the head off I removed the 8 bolts from inside and the oil lines but the part right under the head want's to come off with it? Is this normal because I thought it was just where the pistons are that comes off?

A better question after working on it some more is do I take the entire engine off?

That's the jacket, to make the welding easier I'd remove it as then it can be worked on easier. Plus you won't need a trailer to move it. Just find someone thats welded aluminum blocks before.

After struggling and adjusting everything just right the batter is trash for sure. However there is a problem I am not sure if it is a problem or better yet I don't want it to be a problem. I was manually turning over the engine to see if it would run smooth but every time the rear right loave hits the rocker arm I feel a loss in compression and I hear it too do I need to replace the valve guide?
Edit- It sounds like a new soda bottle being open. It is the arm by the rev gear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update had her running for a few hours last night a little bogged down so I went to get some seafoam and an inline in the morning then the bike shut off as I left the store.. Opened her up and now it looks like I have to remove the engine to replace the cam chain wish me luck.

The drive chain not sure which one is the right word I had barley started to take off then I lost all compression the chain that you see when you do the valves that is broken.

Well still going with the little diva Martha Well on the second engine swap turns out I have to big problems geeze here I go again lol. Low compression 35 on the first piston and 65 on the second going to test compression in the morning again. At least I don't feel like a green horn any more.
