I'm trying to take off the head, using the Haynes manual, and I can't get the timing chain off. I took off the tensioner, and while the chain did slack a bit, it did not come nearly loose enough to remove the cams. I also tried to look at the manual here: www.kawasaki454ltd.com/workshop/faculty/Manual/index.html , but it won't load the side menu for some reason.

Do you know how to put it back on? I am waiting on my manual still but would like to get my bike back up soon.

Do you know how to put it back on? I am waiting on my manual still but would like to get my bike back up soon. Put the rear cam in first. I tried the other way and didn't have much luck. It is a little tough, but it will go in. You shouldn't have to force it. You may have to pop it out a couple times to line up the cams properly. Make sure cylinder 2 is at TDC when you do this or you'll be out of time no matter what you do.
