I just purchased aftermarket brake and clutch assemblies (mine were rusted and worn). The units I purchased claimed they fit the bike but on the clutch there is a connector for I believe the starter that has 3 prongs on it. The new clutch only has a 2 prong connector. I think I could possibly cut the connector and maybe splice the wires together in some formation to eliminate the switch altogether but was hoping you guys had some advice before I do anything.
Thanks,
The new guy Brian.

That is the clutch safety switch, it keeps the bike from being started while in gear, unless the clutch is disengaged....u should be able to use your old one on the new assembly. Or, that switch can be bypassed, but be aware, if the bike is in gear, the engine will start....and jump out from under you!

I would like to bypass. Do we have a thread with the process to do so?

I'm in similar situation. Wanted to put some chrome wide blade skull levers on my 85,didn't quite fit right like advertized. Found out they're for Vulcan 500,or 600's?? Now stuck with new levers I can't return, and can't figure out what kind of perches I need to be able to use the levers?? I found some aftermarket complete clutch brake assemblies, chrome, with flame shaped levers... Tryin to find out if I can buy them and switch to the skull levers? Same thing though,2 weird lil prongs out of a round thing, and a similar black control box with a button on the side like my stock clutch, and two more prongs on the black box?? Also the clutch side doesn't seem to have the lil kinda flat pad piece on the lever that pushes that button when clutch is released?? Or maybe I can't see it in the crappy pics?? IDk?? The brake master cylinder side looks like it'll work fine? Just not understanding the clutch side with missing or extra prongs and no pad or lil foot to push the button on the black plastic control part?? Any updates on these issues?? I'm searchin but this is the only small question I found about "fancy" new clutch brake assemblies... Thanks.
