Hey guys saw a lot of helpful threads on here as a lurker so decided to join.
I cleaned my carbs yesterday woke up this morning to put everything back together. When I started the bike it went straight to 5k rpm. I tried messing with the idle adjuster but no luck any ideas?

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak.Check boots & vacuum line to petcock.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak.Check boots & vacuum line to petcock. What does it mean if gas is leaking out of the intake side? Like a non stop steady flow.

On the filter side of the carbs?? That is caused by the float hight adjustment set too high, and the needle valves not shutting off the gas. Or, in lots of cases, dirt/crud has gotten into the carbs from the tank, and not letting the needle valves shut off.

Ill do a thorough clean up today and readjust float to see if that'll work.

If you don't already have one I would recommend putting an in-line filter on the fuel line. There are screens on the pick-ups for the petcock but some crud could still sneak in. Get yourself a clear in-line filter. Clear so you can see when it needs to be changed.

Stopped the flow of fuel though. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Cleaned everything out but still idles at 5k rpm. Stopped the flow of fuel though. Any suggestions greatly appreciated! As Eagle stated, maybe the throttle cable is hanging up, or the choke. Might need to adjust your throttle cables or the choke cable. Do you have a bit of freeplay when you go to twist the throttle? Did you happen to take the carbs apart from each other when you cleaned them? If you did, they might be out of sync from one another, and one might be open a little more than the other. Are your slides moving up and down freely?

Hmm could air filters being off be the problem? I am leaving airbox out because I ordered EMGO 54mm pods.

There's your problem......these engines will usually not even run without the filters.
