Sounds like one of your floats is to high or sticking.......Try tapping the bowel.Sometimes that will help a float that is hung up.

Thanks mate ill give that, a go but I've also found fuel coming from the the top vent t piece isn't it supposed to be a vacuum or something do you think the aftermarket pet cock could have something to do with it? I'm in Australia and trying to get parts over here is almost impossible so far ive bought all my parts from usa. Been trying to find a proper peacock but no luck at the moment.

The float needles are not shutting off the fuel flow....float level is set to high, or crud is not letting the needles seal. Yes the stock petchock is vacuum controlled, so the fuel can only flow when the engine is providing vacuum to open the petcock, and allow fuel to flow.....the one u have is gravity flow.

I had this probem ended up being some cracked floats located at the lower end of the carb. For the the petcock Iconnected both vaccum vents with a fueline to cancel each of them when I got my after market petcock.

Thanks for your help guys I did all that you said and I finally got it to start but it only idles every time you go to give it a rev it stops. Could that have something to do with the after market peacock? I've blocked both vacuum lines but haven't joined them together as suggested could that also be the problem?
Thanks for all your help

How are the air filters are the carbs clean. Get a can of starter fluid and check for vaccum leaks by spraying around the carburetor boots. This is what I did when I swapped petcocks ended up being that my tank was full of rust. As long as the vacuum lines are blocked off you should be fine
