Just reinstalled carbs on my 89 454 after a rebuild.Throttle moves fine and returns back to idle on the bench. Spring on carb seems fine.after putting everything back together on bike throttle does not return to idle position on it's own.Cables worked fine but we oiled them to be sure the did for awhile. There is no spring in throttle hand grip. Should there be one?Bike has not been started yet. What are we overlooking or is this the way it is supposed to work?

No spring in hand grip.Try disconnecting your return cable & see if throttle returns on it's own.If it does the return cable is binding or not adjusted properly.

I'll take a closer look at both cables. It is supposed to return on it's own isn't it?
