Guys, I bought a used wiring harness (fried my old one trying to jump start from my truck...lesson learned) and am putting it on tonight. The wiring was already a little hacked up so maybe a blessing in disguise. I was wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram for a stock 454 that could send me? Mine is an '85 if that matters. Also, I would really like it if someone could post a picture of what the wiring/component bracket (the one under the seat) on the rear fender should look like with all the components on it. The previous owner had a weird fender on it and nothing on the bracket like it should be so, I'm not sure where everything goes. Also, where is the igniter supposed to mount. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks...I hope to have it back up a running tonight!

Mike, thanks. That's a hugh help. If you have any picures of the rear fender, that would be helpful. Thanks again!

The igniter is supposed to be on a bracket between the seat and the battery.

Mike thanks! This was a hugh help! Still working at getting it all back together, but should be finished here soon. Finally figured out where the igniter goes over the battery...

Thanks for your help and for this forum. I got my wiring all back together and got the bike started! Only issue is that the right side turn signal is not working, so hopefully I can get that sorted out. Thanks

You apparently had your truck running when trying to jump start the bike.....a BIG no no. Hopefully, none of the electrical components, like the igniter, regulator, etc were also fried. The 454 has only a 17 amp system, and cannot take a heavy jolt of juice from a running vehicle, as you have found out. You need to get a manual for the 454...it will be a huge help to you. Ebay is a good source, and the oine from Kawasaki is the best one to get. Update....see you got the bike started..good! Check your bulbs and fuses on the turn signal, and it could be the flasher unit.

Well, actually, I did not have my truck running....but the there was no inline fuse on the positive side, next to the battery. It wasn't until this happen that I even knew there should be one there. It might have saved some of the wiring and regulator. Sometimes you don't know what you don't know. Everything else seems to be OK and working, except the right side turn signal like I mentioned. So is it possible that the flasher unit would be working for the left side, but not the right side? The left side is working fine. Thanks for the comments and tips on the service manual...I do need to get one.

The left side is working fine. Thanks for the comments and tips on the service manual...I do need to get one. I had the same problem with mine recently. Turned out I had the front turn signal on that side miswired. It is an aftermarket part, so the wiring was different colored, comes out black, red, and black w/ white stripe. Took me a few tries of playing with the connections while the bike was on and the turn signal switch on for that side of the bike. When you say it isn't working, what's exactly going on? With mine, the right turn indicator, front and rear right turn signals were all on all the time, but the flasher unit was working properly.
