Gotcha. I already checked the ground on the radiator. Looks good to me. Where is the fan relay at and what does it say on it or look like just in case I have to replace it? Wouldn't wanna pull a different relay on accident and replace something that's already good!! Once again, thank u so much for ur help!! Sent from my Moto X The relay is under the seat inside a round rubber cover. I've circled it in the picture below. Sent from my One using Tapatalk

Awesome. Thank u. When I get off today I will check that fan by that wire. Hopefully it will kick on. If not, guess I will look for a relay. Is that a special relay with special plug or can u buy it almost anywhere like advanced auto or something?

Checked fan. Grounded wire to frame and it kicked on. So relay and fan are good. Guess I will start looking for a fan switch! Thanks to everybody who commented and thanks mikestorm for the info!!

Sent from my Moto X You're quite welcome. The fan and relay rarely go out. If there was one design flaw to this bike, it would have to be the placement of that darn fan switch. One stray rock at the right angle and it's all over. Sent from my One using Tapatalk

I see that. Kinda looks like what happened to mine. The switch is still screwed in. The blade that comes out the end is just broke off. It was still in the connector on the end of the wire. I'll get one eventually. Found one on eBay but its $100. Didn't know they were that high!

There is a "fix" to make the fan run....put a switch inline to turn the fan on and off. Turn the fan on when the temp gauge reads about halfway, but dont forget to turn it off when you shut down, as the fan will soon run the battery down, or wire the fan thru the ignition switch so that when the bike is shut off, the fan is also shut off.

That is true. I wire stuff up anyway for a living so I could do that if I wanted too. Was jus wanting to fix it right BUT I had no idea that little switch cost that much! I just might rewire it. We'll see. At least now I know what the problem is.

OK. Took the bike out riding day before yesterday and yes it was 92 here. Little hot. So anyway, went riding and that temp gauge started rising. Got to the red so I pulled over and the coolant tank was bubbling. Antifreeze was hot. AND coolant tank has a crack in the side so of course that little drip blew antifreeze all down the side of my bike riding it home. Anyway, got home and there was all sorts of rust and brown colored coolant in the tank where it bubbled over. I flushed the entire system out. Might have been a good thing it got that hot and ate a lot of that stuff off the inside of the cooling system. Washed the bike off real good. Last night I wired up a toggle switch for the fan. Will the fan really keep it that cool or do y'all think there is an issue with the antifreeze boiling? The fan was NOT working at that time. Just fixed it. I know the thermo is opening cuz I cranked it and held a water hose at the top and it flushed all the way through the system and out the bottom. Think it was just because the fan wasn't running or do y'all think it's something else causing it to run that hot?

Sent from my Moto X Most likely just the fan not working. You really need it when it gets that hot.The flushing & cleaning will also help.

Thanks. I did it 3 weeks ago when I first got the bike but I guess getting so hot broke a lot of stuff loose so I did it again. Figured it couldn't hurt at all. At least now I have a fan. When should I turn it on though in regards to the temp gauge? Midway? And do I need to turn it back off when it gets down to a certain temp or just leave it on all the time?

Sent from my Moto X I your weather is warm most of the time you could wire it so it comes on when the bike starts & you wouldn't need to wory about it.

Yeah I could but not really worried about it at the moment. That switch is pricey and the toggle with wire and connecters cost me $15. Its OK for now but I do eventually want to fix it the right way by replacing that fan switch.
