Have you checked the screen in the fuel tank valve?

Yes. I rebuilt the petcock. Noticed the plastic was broke on the screen. I put an inline filter just in case. It's wasn't plugged either. I want to replace the petcock but the only ones I can find are different. The petcock I can find doesn't have the shutoff valve like the OEM petcock. That's another ? now. Can that shutoff valve be eliminated if the new petcock has a shutoff position. Then plug the vacuum on the rubber boot? I'm real confused cause this bike starts right up, runs great on the back roads. But I go 5 miles on the hiway and starts hesitating then will die. Very confusing to me

No comments? Could really use some help here. It seems it is starving for fuel. I move petcock valve to "prime" and it seems to pick back up. Maybe petcock is bad?

It almost sounds as if either one of two things is going on: the float levels are set too high, or a bad petcock. Or possibly even a bad vacuum line to the petcock; might be collapsing under the increased vacuum of highway speeds. If the engine picks back up on PRIME, either the vacuum half of the petcock is not working, or the float level is too high (closing off fuel before the bowls are at the right level).

I set float level and checked it 2 different ways and is just as should be. So the petcock is what I was leaning towards also. Was going to replace it but the only ones I can find don't have the vaccum shut off. Just have ON, OFF and reserve. I spose I will be eliminiating the vaccum. Tx for your reply

I spose I will be eliminiating the vaccum. Tx for your reply Before you do that, try a new piece of vacuum line. It'll cost like a dollar; just might work... Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using the ProBoards Mobile App

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using the ProBoards Mobile App Tx for the tip. However, tried and still have the issue. Soon as I move the valve to the PRIME position it smoothes back out. New petcock ordered. Tx again for the help

Well guys I am ready to pull my hair out on this thing. Because I have been having so many issues with this bike, I have installed the cone air filters due to the fact that its way easier for me and the bike to remove the carbs. I've done valve adjustment, changed the petcock cause mine was messed up. Eliminated the vacuum to the petcock cause new one doesn't have that on/off vacuum switch. Now even with the stock airbox and with my cone filters, I am bogging down in the mid throttle. It idles great and even runs good when sitting on the kickstand. Have all throttle range when sitting. Get out on the road and it is losing all the power. I am waiting for a kit that I hope will take care of my issues. This is the kit: www.ebay.com/itm/331199184490?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Am I wasting my money here? They want the specs of your bike. Make, year, mods and elevation and supposedly have support.

If it's only bogging in the mid-range (full throttle/5k-7k rpm) you may be able to get away with just shimming the needle. A few people have needed to re-jet their carbs after installing pod/cone filters. I would suggest reading this: www.454rider.com/ebook/index.htm#page=How To Adjust EN450 Valves .htm . To familiarize yourself with tuning your carbs. Sent from my One

Tx for tip Mike but have tried that. They are shimmed with 2 3mm washers. Seemed to be best there. I guess will wait till I get the kit I ordered and go from there.

I'm so at a loss with this bike. Just when it seems I get a handle on the bike. I have 3 coils cut, 135 MJ, and still can't get it right. I can cruise the hiway for a mile or so, then seems to get lean on me. Temp rises. Get on a side road for a bit then it cools and starts running again. I don't get it ? Well guys. Figured my issue out but not sure which fixed it. I've been talking about a carb kit on EBay www.ebay.com/itm/331199184490?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 I installed the pilot and MJ's supplied and is running perfect. Now I also raised the floats a bit and as I said is running perfect. Is just a little sluggish in the midrange but this could be cause of the 3 shims on the needle's so gonna mess with that next. I am a happy camper at the moment cause now I can ride
Edit: Well the kit did not fix my issue. But I have fixed it now. I was uder the impression I could plug those vents on the tank. The one on the left yes. But the I unplugged the right side and the bike runs fine now.
