Just to get off of 454 talk for a moment: if you own other bikes, what other bikes do you own? And what bike do you ride most often and why? And..... GO!

The other bike is a 2005 Triumph Rocket III. I just got my '85 454 rode it for a week and stopped turning over. Waiting for a starter rebuild kit to arrive right now. I enjoyed everything about the 454 for the week that it did run. Hopefully I will have her on the road again this weekend. Comparing the Rocket to the 454 is like comparing apples to oranges, 2 different bikes from 2 different eras. But riding anything with 2 wheels makes me happy.

I do own a BMW R1200GS 2010. Which I do ride the most? When it comes to miles (or km in Europe) the beamer wins, but that's because it is built for the long haul. However when it comes to number of rides the kawasaki wins, no hasitate. Short Sunday afternoon trips or a visit to the center of the city, traffic filtering, the light kawa is my choice. On the beamer you sit, lean back and just drive. No unexpected behavior from the bike, smooth but oh so boring, until you twist the throttle and you find yourself driving at an illegal speed. On the kawa, things go all different. You know for sure when you enter the can cost you a license speed. To be honest, I like the charm and character of the kawa the most. And attention that the old school bike attracts. The beamer is more like a very long relationship, you know what you can expect but sometimes boring. And I know, being married for more than 16 years.

2013 Yamaha V-Star 250 bought it for the LONG commute to work, 1.5 miles. Needs fuel about every 2 or 2 1/2 months. 1990 Honda PC800 I saw it on Craigslist and watched it for a year and a half before the owner came down to an amount I was willing to pay. That is my main bike these days, commute , groceries for a meal or two, it's my just for fun ride. My 1988 454 was an accident, I was at work and the mail lady told me she knew someone that wanted to get rid of a motorcycle, I offered 100$ without even looking at it. I went to the owner and she showed me the bike, I again made the 100$ offer and she accepted. The tag expired in July of 1999, her deceased husband parked it because she asked him too. She didn't/won't go into detail about why she asked him to park it. I took the title home with me. A couple days later, the seller and I loaded it on my trailer ( it hadn't seen the sun since sometime in 1999, stored in a shed under her house) and now I have a project that I hope to have running before the cold Virginia weather gets here. Later this month, July 2019, I will be traveling a couple hours away to Lexington, VA and picking up another PC800, this one is a 1989. If you think 454 LTD parts are difficult to come by, try finding a front right turn signal/mirror assembly for any PC800!! Good Luck there!
Ride careful and always be safe, y'all
