Looks like there are a few other folks around here who've lost their key and are looking for solutions. (Glad I'm not the only one.)
But I'm looking at a different option, since my ignition switch was getting a little hinky anyway. I can find a complete set of locks (ignition, gas cap, helmet lock, maybe even the cargo box lock) for a Vulcan 700 or 750. All the part numbers are the same except the ignition switch.
Any reason I couldn't splice in the Vulcan switch, or at least swap its cylinder into my switch? I've got an old buddy coming into town soon with his new bike, and I need to be sure I can go riding with him!
I'd love to hear from anyone who's been down this road. Otherwise, I'll be the guinea pig and report on what it takes. Seems like VN750 stuff is much easier to find....

FWIW, the only difference I can see in photos is an extra lead on the Vulcan part, with a bullet-type connector on the end. I think the multi-pin connector is the same....

As far as I know, the extra wire is for the Vulcan's flashers, which we don't have.

Thanks for the tip—now I've got to decide whether to save a few bucks going this route or grab the one complete 454LTD lockset I've found....

The good news is that I took my ignition cylinder to my local locksmith, and they were able to make me a key for under $20. Score!
The bad news is that I still can't ride because one of the carbs is overflowing, which wasn't happening earlier this season. Sigh.

Hello,
I'm a new 1989 454 LTD owner and new to the world of motorcycles! I'm looking for a new ignition switch and with my budget I'm looking for aftermarket parts. Does anyone know if the Vulcan ignition would work as a replacement? I'd appreciate your input.
Thank you,

Hi guys! Did the switch from the VN fit and work on the EN? I have the sane problem with my EN ignition...

Very old thread, but thought I would convey what I learned recently.
The answer is yes and no.
I bought a VN750 ignition switch on Ebay for the electrics only.
There was a white wire bullet plug and a brown wire bullet plug along with the brown six pin socket on the VN750 ignition switch.
I had to cut the bullet plugs off those wires and solder them to the appropriate locations on the 6 pin socket. The EN450 green six pin socket has a brown wire and white wire leading into it.
Make sure the other wire colors leading into the brown socket match their connecting wires in the green socket. The ignition switch will have 2 wires you don't use. These two aren't needed for the EN450.
If you need to move the pins around on the brown socket, get a long pointy instrument like a dentist pick to push in the snap on the inner pin so it will slide out of the socket with very little effort.
