This is not a 454-LTD problem. Rather it is one that I am having with a 1983 Kawasaki KZ550 Spectre. In any gear it accelerates like Cheetah after it's prey. But when it reaches abour 5K rpm it stumbles in any gear.. It has over 145 PSI compression so it's not the valve clearances. I rebuilt the carbs, replaced the sparkm plug wires, and checked the pick up coils and high voltage coils. Also replaced the spark plugs. Fuel tank and fuel valve are clean. Now here's the kicker, I can put it on the center stand and it will red line in any gear without a hitch running smooth as a Swiss watch. Oh, and BTW, I also tried it with the gas cap open, so it's not that. And with the fuel valve on prime.

Found an open secondary on one of the high voltage coils. Hopefully it will cure the problem when I get a new one installed.
