So I have been having problems with the bike not having enough power to start and the battery dying after only a few cranks.Turns out the battery was low on water. Fixed that. It ran fine for a while. Checked to make sure that the battery was charging. It read at around 13.6v when checked which from looking around on the forum seems correct. Well, I had to jump it when I left work last night. This morning, it would not start. I jumped it and it started. As soon as I took the cable off it died. It wouldn't start even with a jump after that. So is this just a fried battery or even worse? I'm in love with this bike and don't want to be without it for too long.

Sounds like she is not charging as she should stay running after a boost.I would check the regulator first.

My grandfather put it on the charger while I was at work and it started right up later? This is confusing... So with the multimeter on the battery the voltage should be around 13.6v, correct? Will that tell me if the regulator is working?

Will that tell me if the regulator is working? Yes.....with the bike running. When you rev the bike up it should go to about 14.6.

I went and got the battery checked and, as I figured, it was shot. Came home and had to put the acid in it and charge it for a few hours. I'm on break at work now and will check it when I get home. If the bike starts I will check to be sure it is charging. Thanks again for your help.

It's been on there for probably around 7-8 hours or so. If it reads the proper voltage when I get home should it still be charged over night?

The 7 to 8 hours should be adequate.

So just to let everybody know.... I went out and checked the battery and it was good. I put it in the bike, turned the key to the ON position, flipped the switch to run, choked it, gave it a small amount of throttle, pressed the start button ( is your anticipation building? because I know mine sure was) and it fired right up. Now for the scary part. Hooked the multimeter to it, revved it up and it jumped up to the mid 14's. Everything works!!! I am so thankful that it wasn't anything worse than a battery. I may have been out of a bike for the warmest day of the year here so far, but that's it. Just today. Thanks so much for your help guys!
