I am in process of going through the cooling system right now. I have tested the thermostat, and fan switch. The Thermo tests out but the fan switch fails.
I have read that people either wire in a switch or it is possible to wire the fan directly to the harness so when the bike starts the fan comes on. I am wanting to do both. Installing the switch is no problem.
Where (what) do I tag on the harness to have a full time fan?
The plan I am working is this.... full time fan for 3 seasons riding, with the ability to shut the fan off in the winter to maintain temp.

Just wire a toggle switch inline to a power source....there should be a thread or two on this in the forum.

Wiring a switch is no problem. Simply put a toggle in front of the fan switch then to ground.
I was wanting to go through the key though. Is it possible to do so?
I thought about tagging the headlight lead, but blow a fuse and that could be bad, Same with the running lights as well.

It has been a while since I did this so I am trying to remember but I think the easiest fix is to simply pull the wire that is plugged in to the bottom of the radiator. This is the fan control It is actually the NEGATIVE side of the circuit. So put your toggle switch there then connect the toggle to a ground and not a positive source. As far as running thru the key you would have to completely rewrite the fan but you should be able to run from the fuse panel beside the horn on the front of the bike. Just choose a circuit that is keyed.
