My battery is shot and I'm wondering what brand everyone recommends? The brand don't matter as much as the type......I would go with a Gel cell or sealed battery so no overflow hose to worry about & no spilt acid & no topping up.

Yuasa is a top brand, but as was stated, the AGM (absorbent glass mat) a.k.a "gel" battery is the best type to have for the cost. That said, just a few days ago I replaced mine with the liquid-acid type, with the hose. Cause I'm cheap. It was about 30 bucks on eBay.
You have to fill an AGM battery when you get it, but once filled, you close it up and forget about it.
Be sure the battery you order comes with acid! Some do not, and you have to buy it separately at a parts store.

About a year ago I picked up an eBay lithium ion battery. IMPRESSIVE how little it weighed, how small it was and it still did the job. Shortly thereafter, the bike was running on once cylinder unless I was hammering it and then the oil light came on and stayed on.
