OK, so my gf found pictures of me while I was back in the army and I used to buy old bikes and redo them in my spare time. That was 15 or 16 years ago. She decided I needed a project, so for my birthday I got a semi running 87 454 LTD. I got the running issues fixed, but the bike looks dated. The speedo works sometimes, the tach works most times, the lights on them are crap. I found an all in one aftermarket information panel and speedo/tach so she bought that and a slew of other parts for me. In other words, since it was all a gift, I cant take it back or say not interested.
I have poured over the wiring diagrams and for some reason I can't seem to wrap my head around several things. OK, first the old information cluster has two wires to every light, the new all in one only has space for one. Am I right in thinking that there is a shared ground for the all in one? Second, I know that the electronic fuel guage uses resistance to determine fuel level. If I leave it unwired, it should just show a full tank, correct?
Thank you all in advance.

Worpt, I believe Black with yellow stripe wires are the ground. Yes they all are the same ground. Not sure on the fuel gauge.
