When re-jetting the carbs to a bigger jet does anything Have to be done to the pilot jet? I have it all figured out for the main jet but nothing for the pilot. Any help? Thanks

Depends what you are doing. If going to pods, some people say nothing at all. However, the more air you deliver, the larger the pilot jet and primaries need to be. And vice versa. There is a company 6sigma jets, that if you do anything, they are really good at the calculations. I just did a stage 7 conversion to my 4 carb kawi and they did a great job. You will also need to shim as well as possibly modify the vacuum slide spring tension.

Mik how much did the stage 7 kit change the useable rev range? I guess this was done for outright power? Did it alter lower rev range a lot?

My rev range is the same, but i have to regear my front and rear sprocket now. I was having issue's with my primary carbs to begin with. Had some issues with mid range as well. So this was a fix as well as maxing out my bike for basically race ready performance. As far as performance, in final gear i can pull a wheelie doing 80mph and pull until I redline 😎

I thought that 5 minutes would be sufficient warm up time at 70°F+ outside. I have to keep the choke on a little to keep it idling. Partial throttle is ok, but a full throttle will kill it. I'm not getting enough fuel, right? Three turns on the pilots seems like more than enough to me. Is it time for bigger jets?

Yes you need to go up a couple of sizes on your MJ.....Pilot screws only control idle to one=third & must be adjusted with engine completely warm & choke off. I alsu cut a couple of coils off the diphram spring......The response was great.

Done. Did you shim the slider pins? If you mean needle....Yes I did. Great. 2 shims here on each side. New 6Sigma MJ (Stage 7, running pods) and new PJ. Drilled my holes in the slides. Cut 2 rings off the springs. It idles great. The throttle is better but still sluggish to respond. Cut off one more coil at a time? It's probably trial and error at this point, right?

I don't have a tach on there, but I've been around motors long enough to know that my high-end RPMs are high enough. I clipped 4 1/2 coils off the springs. My throttle is ridiculously short. I get max RPMs in under a quarter turn. I'm wondering if I that is because I'm using Stage 7 jets. Maybe step down to Stage 3? Thoughts?

Hard to say.....But worth a try.....When I cliped my springs I just got better response.

For those curious about the 6 sigma kit, I have pods on and the difference between stage 7 and stage 3 wasn't noticeable. I left the 132.5 jets in there. I did replace my idler jets with the ones that were supplied. My idle screws are turned out 2 1/2 turns. I ended up taking the spacers out of the slides. I didn't notice much of a difference. I cut 4 1/2 coils from my springs. Now that it's tuned and rolling down the street with no problems, I'm going to put new (uncut) springs in there to see if I can slow down the response a little. My first time out of the driveway, the bike almost ripped itself out from under me. I'd say the throttle is a little touchy, but it's also fun when you want to "get on it". I sure don't spend a lot of time in first gear.

I should note that the 132.5 jets were supplied by 6 Sigma along with the stage 7 jets.
