Hello everybody, my petcock is leaking and I'm ordering a new petcock. In the meantime, I'm going to try to reverse the washer and see if that provides a temporary fix. Only thing in my way is removing the gas tank. Is there anything I should be aware of before taking it off? Or is it as simple as just clamping a few hoses disconnecting the other end?
Thanks in advance

The tank comes right off once you remove the screw under the seat. Drain what fuel you can but there will always be more fuel trying to splash out of the petcock holes once removed from the bike, rest it with the thin end raised up to avoid this or apply some duck tape it might last half an hour before leaking. Not sure which washer you are talking about but I have an aftermarket (non-vacuum) petcock that was leaking from the rubber ring between tank and petcock. I cut a piece of high grade neoprene to fit with holes for the screws and tap and this provided a much better seal than the original rubber ring fitting.
