Oh great Gurus of the 454... I purchased a 454 this summer as a commuter and have been having a strange issue. The bike wasn't running when I got it. Tore down the carbs did a thorough cleaning and replaced one vacuum slide, new airf filters and plugs and adjusted the valves.
Bike starts and runs fine, with one exception. At in town speeds now problems, above 55-60 fine, but right around 55mph/5500-6000rpm the bike will occasionall lurch like it loses power. This will happen repeatedly hence the hiccup description in the title.
I am a pretty experienced having built a couple bikes from the ground up, but this my first Kawasaki and considerably newer than most of my work.
Looking for any suggestions or at least a place to start.
Thanks In advance

I'm no expert but I had a similar issue with mine. Float height adjustment fixed it right away. Mine was off by 6mm at least, which was enough to have the bike run too lean at higher speeds and unable to get all the power i knew it had in reserve because of the lurching. Spec is 17mm +/- 2mm
