Hi all. I bought my 454 a week ago. I started it as soon as it was delivered and after put the bike on its side stand. Minutes later when I wanted to start it again I couldn't unlock the steering and turn the key to the start position. I have noticed that the back an nr plate lights were still on tough! Then I disconnected the battery to avoid turn it flat. Since then I have trying to unlock the steering, turning the steering left to right simultaneously turning the key but... without success. I put graphite in the ignition, and even WD40 but no results. Any advice please? Thanks guys.

try pushing and pulling the key while trying to unlock it. in order to lock the steering you have to push the key while turning. it could be stuck in the locked position just turning the key won't do it. or the key is worn and not connecting with the tumblers in the lock patience is a virtue with a dodgy lock. once freed don't lock the steering while turning off. and buy a new lock and key.

Thank you for your answer Bikeman. I am keep tring almosrt every day. The trouble is to buy a new lock and key...to this model of bike as it is old. I saw a full ignition only on Amazon USA, more thamn £100. Do you think that any lock could be adaptable into the 454 Ltd ignition?

We have found a mod to use a two wire on/off (preferrably, a keyed) switch. I will em ail it to you.

OK what you have done is turned the KEY clock wise and locked your bike. To solve this problem you have to turn the KEY anti Clockwise.
It sounds silly tbh, but you know when the ignition has been turned clockwise because your side lights will stay on even though the bike lock is locked.
It can be a pain to turn it back anti-clockwise but with a little jiggling you will do it, push down turn anti-clockwise.
The last time I did this it took me 10 minute to unlock it as I did not notice which way it was turned.
What ever you do do not damage your key with over pressure as it will end up costing you more than you would want.
If your still having problems come back.

I will em ail it to you. it is not necessary to be too drastic a change when its simply just been turned clockwise instead of anti-clockwise. If you were suggesting a switch hidden as anti theft then I would agree, but the UK/EU models have a horrible 4 position ignition (not sure what you have in US) And a warn lock/Barrel just makes it worse. Would be interested to know where Tuga lives in UK, I may be able to help.

yep that's basically what I was on about. I don't have a 454 but two GPZ's [EX] most of the issues you guys have with the 454 are mirrored on the EX the ignition lock is just a example. together with busted flywheels [early models] gearbox false neutrals, CCT's ect, ect.
