I am in the process of getting an old 86 en 450 back on the road. I was gifted this unit for free and I have looked all over the OEM service manual and the aftermarket manuals and can only find cable routeing. I am hoping that someone may be of help here. and have a diagram of the harness routeing.
I need to know witch side the battery terminals face on the unit when installed are they supposed to face the rear of the bike (towards rear tire vent tube on left of bike) or the front of the bike (towards the engine with vent tube on the right)? Right now just from assembling it and seeing where the cables line up the best my thought is that the battery terminals should be facing towards the engine.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated also the OEM battery is a YUASA conventional yt12a-a type battery I'm wondering what sealed type batteries have people used out there that fit properly with no issues.
parts that i am looking for if anyone has them reasonably priced -rear sissy bar with passenger back rest
-rear fender -rear fender license plate bracket (complete with license plate light) -complete headlight bucket -set of undamaged gauges -shift rod/linkage -seat or seat covers -full exhaust system -center stand
I may possibly need more help and advice as I dive into the lighting system of this neglected bike.

It makes no difference witch way they face as long as the cables reach the proper posts.....I've had batterys in both ways...I used a 14 amp in mine.

On mine the terminal are on the engine side of the battery.
I have some parts so will take a look and let you what you can have. The moment I get a lift you can have my center stand as well. Should be fairly soon.
