So, earlier tonight I decided to take my 88 454 out down the street for a evening ride before bed. I have been repairing this thing since March. I had just came out of a stop light and approached a 2-way intersection 2 miles from my house. A car pulled out in front of me to cross the intersection. Luckily, I was only going about 25 MPH. I couldn’t avoid the woman’s car and the motorcycle laid down on my left side. Again, thankfully, I skidded to a halt just a foot or two from hitting the driver’s side door. If I had been going any faster or the bike didn’t lay down, I would have impacted the driver sided door and window. I’m scratched up and sore, but I am ok. The driver of the car was extremely concerned and apologetic. The police were called and firefighters treated my arm. We exchanged insurance information. She didn’t see me, which is pretty typical for motorcycle riders. I was honestly more concerned about the bike because I have been working on it and restoring it so much lately. At first I didn’t think the motorcycle would start because it seemed like it was stuck in gear, but I was able to get it out of gear and turn it over. The only issue I can find right now is that the clutch handle bar is bent. I was able to ride it home. Thank God it wasn’t worse than it was.
